Sapphire
Best known for their deep blue hues, sapphires also appear in other colours
including pink, yellow and orange. Sapphires were once thought to protect
the wearer from envy, though we can't guarantee that with our jewellery!
Ruby
The finest rubies have a rich and intense red colour, perhaps explaining
why the ancient Hindus described their glow as an inextinguishable fire
burning within the stone. Rubies, like sapphires, are from the corundum
family and their hardness, second only to diamond, makes both gemstones
an excellent choice for a stunning engagement ring.
Emerald
Dedicated by the ancients to Venus the goddess of love, emeralds were
believed to symbolise immortality, faith, fertility and life. Emeralds
are characteristically marked with inclusions and surface cracks, making
a flawless emerald with a deep rich colour the most highly prized of all
precious gemstones - likely to out-price even a high quality diamond.
Other Gemstones
At Pravins we stock jewellery featuring an assortment of coloured gemstones
including tanzanite, rhodolite, morganite, aquamarine, amethyst, blue
topaz and of course coloured diamonds. In fact, we specialise in creating
hand-made jewellery around individual gemstones. Our staff will be delighted
to guide you through the various choices available.
