Pravins celebrates 50th anniversary

From a small market stall in London to generations of trusted relationships built around exceptional jewellery.

Every family business has a beginning.

Ours begins in 1969, when Pravin Shah arrived in the United Kingdom with a passion for jewellery, an entrepreneurial spirit and a simple belief that quality and personal service should always go hand in hand.

Pravins Limited started life as a small market stall in Marble Arch, Central London, specialising in fashionable silver jewellery. Pravin had an instinctive eye for design and an unwavering commitment to offering jewellery that people genuinely wanted to wear. It wasn't long before that small beginning grew into a number of successful concessions within major fashion retailers across the country.

As the business continued to grow, so did its ambitions. With the support of family, Pravins moved into permanent premises, first on the Strand and later on London's famous Regent Street. These years laid the foundations for the company we know today and marked the beginning of a lifelong passion for exceptional jewellery.

The 1980s brought a new chapter. Pravins turned its attention to fine jewellery, developing a particular appreciation for natural diamonds and coloured gemstones. The flagship boutique at 221 Regent Street became known for beautifully crafted jewellery, exceptional gemstones and personal service, establishing Pravins as a respected name within the London jewellery world.

During the 1990s, Pravin's sons, Sanjeev and Hiten, joined the business, bringing fresh ideas while continuing the values on which the company had been built. As Pravins expanded beyond London into Reading, Cardiff and Milton Keynes, one thing remained constant: a commitment to helping customers celebrate life's most meaningful moments with jewellery that would be treasured for generations.

Today, while our showrooms may have changed, the principles behind the business remain remarkably familiar.

We continue to believe that exceptional jewellery begins with exceptional craftsmanship, carefully selected diamonds and coloured gemstones, and the knowledge and experience to recognise what makes each one truly special. Every diamond, every gemstone and every finished piece is chosen with the same attention to detail that has guided Pravins since those earliest days.

Over more than five decades, we have developed trusted relationships with some of the world's leading diamond and gemstone suppliers, as well as highly skilled British designers and craftsmen who share our uncompromising approach to quality. These longstanding partnerships allow us to create jewellery that reflects both exceptional materials and exceptional workmanship.

Perhaps the greatest privilege, however, has been the relationships we've built with our customers.

Many of the people who chose an engagement ring with us years ago have returned to celebrate anniversaries, mark family milestones and help the next generation choose jewellery of their own. Being invited to share those moments is something we never take for granted, and it remains one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Our bespoke jewellery service reflects that same philosophy. Every bespoke piece begins with a conversation, listening carefully to what matters most before bringing a customer's ideas to life through thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship and carefully chosen diamonds or coloured gemstones. The result is jewellery that's every bit as individual as the person who'll wear it.

Although Pravin himself retired in 2006, happily exchanging his desk for a seat at his favourite beachside bar, his belief that every customer deserves honest advice, exceptional quality and genuine care continues to shape the business today.

More than fifty years after that first market stall opened in Marble Arch, Pravins remains proudly independent, proudly family-owned and as passionate about fine jewellery as ever.

Jewellery styles may evolve. Techniques may advance. New generations will always bring fresh ideas.

But the things that matter most have never changed.

Exceptional craftsmanship.

Honest advice.

Lasting relationships.

Those values shaped Pravins in 1969, and they continue to shape us today.
